World Environment Day 2021: #Generationrestoration

Friday, 04 June 2021

Jakarta, 5 June 2021 - World Environment Day is celebrated every June 5, and this year's theme is Reimagine, Recreate, Restore. With generations recovering, we as a society and industry and the private sector have the power to restore ecosystems, help restore ecosystems that have been destroyed by modern industry.

It is hard to imagine that the Industrial and manufacturing sectors can be plastic-free. Plastic has many advantages that other materials cannot provide, such as flexibility, durability, water-resistance and most importantly, it extends the product life cycle. From an industrial point of view, it is by far the most economical material.

However, plastic is indeed harmful to the environment because it takes 500 - 1000 years to decompose. Some types of packaging, especially plastic packaging with code 7, are difficult to recycle. It is the most convenient for the brand as it is usually made out of other types of plastic. Hence, it is easy to print for brand & marketing purposes, but it can’t easily be recycled and not commonly accepted by curbside recycling programs.

Despite the various challenges plastic packaging can face, Greenhope encourages everyone to join this year's WED Global Movement, #GenerationRestoration. We believe that change can be made, especially as we constantly improve our biodegradable bioplastic technology with our pioneering brands, Ecoplas®, Oxium® and Naturloop, to become market-ready. It is economically beneficial for industry and society and improves the welfare of local cassava farmers.

We believe that this plastic waste problem is too big to be solved alone. We have to open for any collaboration, hand-in-hand, usher in the new generation of bioplastic. Therefore, we need you, the game-changer, brand & business owner, to partner with us and create a greener industry using biodegradable bioplastic technology. Let’s create a generation that can make peace with the environment, make it a liveable planet once more.
