Greenhope is a material innovation technology social enterprise with the mission to catalyze the society’s shift towards sustainable consumption and production. We dream of a prosperous people and flourishing planet without harmful plastics. We research, develop, and produce our own patented, certified and market proven technologies that are renewably sourced with lower carbon footprint and better end-of-life behavior through safe biodegradation / bio assimilation: Oxium (biodegradable additive), Ecoplas (cassava-based biodegradable bioplastic), and Naturloop (cassava-based home compostable bioplastic).
We partner with brands, governments, and institutions globally to co-create better-for-environment garbage bags, seedling bags, shopping bags, food trays, utensils, food and non-food packaging, to-date >40 applications. Our technologies are suitable for items that are too small, contaminated, multi-layered, neither reusable nor economically viable to recycle, complementing the 3R approaching by reducing problematic and polluting plastic.
Our cassava bioplastic (Ecoplas and Naturloop) is sourced from farmers cooperatives under fair trade scheme, ensuring higher income and positive impact (capacity building, better equipment etc.) for the farmers and communities. Our technologies are certified by international standards on Home and Industrial Compostable, Bio-Based, as well as Biodegradable.
We are currently exporting to >12 countries as well as partnering with >150 converters and brands around the world. Our new world-class facilities is ISO-certified on Quality (9001), Environmental (14001), and Safety (45001).
We are recognized by and active member of influential institutions networks such as Schwab Social Entrepreneurs with The World Economic Forum, Unreasonable Goals community, Catalyst2030, the UN Global Compact, Gerakan PASTI, and many others. With less ego and more eco as our operating philosophy, think of Greenhope as your Ready, Willing, Able technology partner for your brand and operations to go green together!

Our Co-Founders
Tommy is a social entrepreneur who believes and enjoys creating great, sustainable value by solving the world’s big problems and bringing net positive social and environmental impact.
His experience includes co-owning and managing a furniture and fashion brand, holding a high-level position in a major Indonesian enterprise, and working as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.
After living in the USA and Europe for 10 years, he returned to Indonesia to help build the nation and people.
Tommy received MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and studied development economics at the London School of Economics. Together with Sugianto, he received scholarship to be part of Harvard Kennedy School & Schwab Foundation’s program with The World Economic Forum. Tommy was selected as Top 100 Visionary Leaders by Real-Leaders magazine, as well as an Unreasonable Fellow in Unreasonable Goals program and community (unreasonable-goals.com). Tommy was inducted into Asia Tatler’s Impact List as one of the Most Influential Persons in Asia (https://www.tatlerasia.com/people/tommy-tjiptadjaja). He is frequently invited to share his passion and insights in collaborating to solve the massive plastic waste pollution problems and other inspiring life topics, such as at TEDx events https://youtu.be/LHCdPqBTI_8 and https://youtu.be/pbdkZ_3Nyzc?si=4M4sAQNFiWxaDUMs
At home Tommy greatly values spending time with and gaining inspiration from his wife and three daughters, as well as serving his local community.
Sugianto came from 40 year family business background in plastic packaging, giving him deep understanding on plastic materials, production techniques, and the value chain. Prior to Greenhope, Sugianto worked at 3M in the United States as an RnD Engineer where he honed his market and impact-driven research and development skills and discipline.
Educated at the University of North Dakota, Sugianto is recognized as a scientist and inventor of environmentally friendly materials, having received awards and recognitions such as Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Award, Indonesia President’s Industrial Pioneer Award, Best Applied Innovation from the Indonesian Minister for Research and Technology, 50 Most Impactful Social Innovators by World CSR Congress, and together with Tommy, Schwab Social Entrepreneur with The World Economic Forum.
Sugianto went home after spending enough time in the USA to pursue his dream of taking Indonesia to the next level through innovation. He firmly believes that for Indonesia to grow into advance country with such a large population, we need applied innovations that can take our job-creating manufacturing sector to the next level, seizing the opportunity in the space that he understand deeply: plastic business and RnD to solve sustainability challenge.
Through his 10 years of research with many failures, Sugianto finally significant innovations in positively ‘disrupting’ plastic industry with effective sustainable solutions based on local sources, context, and affordability.
Sugianto loves to continue developing new innovations as well as spending time with this wife and two grown up sons.
We aspire to be an active contributor in the movement towards a sustainable planet and flourishing people for generations to come. This can be achieved by transforming global production and consumption patterns through innovative technologies and services, holistically changing the value chain from upstream (material upgrade) all the way to the downstream (consumer behavior). This requires less ego more eco collaborative mindset to drive effective partnerships between private sectors, governments, and civil societies is crucial in this endeavor. There is no single hero. No single solution. We need to make it together.
